My Public Letter to Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand

A request to not approve Robert F. Kennedy Jr's confirmation.

Dear Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand,

My name is Annie He, and I am one of your constituents. I am requesting you to not approve Robert F. Kennedy Jr's confirmation to become the next Secretary of Health and Human Services. Kennedy Jr's visions for public health threatens to undo decades worth of scientific research and development. As someone who is pursuing a doctoral degree in public health, I would not want to be in a situation where my credibility is being questioned because of Kennedy Jr's beliefs.

As an example, he said at the confirmation hearing that COVID vaccines were approved "without any scientific basis." I disagree with his statement wholeheartedly because COVID vaccines use mRNA vaccine technology, which was developed years before the COVID 19 pandemic occurred. If Kennedy Jr receives the approval to become the next Secretary of Health and Human Services, then it would pose a major challenge for me as a citizen who believes in science and as a future public health professional.

I strongly urge you to not approve Kennedy Jr's confirmation.
